Interventional Radiology (IR) is a medical subspecialty that uses advanced imaging — including fluoroscopy (real-time X-ray), ultrasound, CT, and MRI — to guide precisely targeted, minimally invasive procedures. Rather than large incisions, IR physicians use tiny skin nicks (often just 2–3 mm) to access blood vessels or other structures, delivering treatment directly to the source of disease.
IR procedures can treat conditions ranging from enlarged prostates and uterine fibroids to chronic joint pain, varicose veins, and even certain cancers.
