Bruce N. Benge, M.D.

Urology Surgeon, Founding Partner of Brandywine Urology Consultants

Dr. Benge is a Delaware native and second generation Delawarean physician.  Dr. Benge is one of the original founding partners of Brandywine Urology Consultants and has over 25 years of dedicated urology care.  He was previously the Section Chief of Urologic Surgery for Christiana Care from 2003 to 2014.  He is also the chairman of the Genitourinary Health Improvement Team for the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.  Dr. Benge has been named one of the Top Doctors by Delaware Today for 2019, 2010 and 2011.  He has also been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America multiple times.

Dr. Benge earned his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University in Chemical Engineering.  He obtained his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.  He completed a surgery residency and urology residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine.  Dr. Benge also completed an intensive fellowship in urologic oncology at Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York.

Dr. Benge began urologic research as a resident physician and won the Residents Prize at the Mid-Atlantic American Urologic Association forty ninth meeting in 1991.  He has presented papers on prostate cancer and general urology both national and internationally.  Dr. Benge’s work has been published numerous times in the Journal of Urology, the Journal of Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, the Turkish Journal of Urology and the Delaware Medical Journal.  He has also served as the Board of directors for the Mid-Atlantic American Urological Association representing Delaware and as a delegate to the Medical Society of Delaware.
